Lately, I’ve been fascinated by the innovation tool of design thinking. It’s a nonlinear problem-solving methodology with a few simple elements: get curious, talk to people, try stuff.
To learn more about design thinking, I sat down for a chat with UX designer Aiden Zucker. Aiden — who started his career as a freelancer in Chile — told me how he uses the principles of design thinking to create a career path he loves.
“Applying design thinking is one of the best things that you can do in a career search. I think people don’t look at their lives as these malleable things that they have autonomy over. Sometimes it can feel like, ‘Well I’m on this conveyor belt. I studied biology, so I have to be a biologist.’”

Aiden outlined the methodology for hopping off that automated machine and taking control of his career.
For this self-published Medium piece, I conducted the interview, did my own research and compiled the information in the article.
